Jason Kenney's government has launched an inquiry into who funds groups that criticize Alberta’s oil industry.

I am a concerned resident of Vancouver, and I donate to support environmental causes as well as First Nations in their opposition to this pipeline. I wholeheartedly disagree with any expansion of the Trans Mountain Pipeline. Our youth are leading the way in telling us that we need to change. We should listen. Fossil fuel development powered yesterday’s world. We need to support sustainable energy development for tomorrow. As David Attenborough recently said, not taking action against the climate crisis will soon be seen as a moral issue, in the same way that slavery, once seen as acceptable, became a moral issue in the mid 19th century. Where’s your morality? It’s time to do the right thing.

Alberta can already produce other forms of energy that are SUSTAINABLE

Who are we? We are regular Canadians who feel it is our duty to protect the lands and waters and wildlife and environmental health of this nation. We are regular Canadians who recognize the danger of piping diluted bitumen (tar) through a thousand lakes and rivers and fresh water sources for Indigenous communities, through salmon spawning grounds among others, and then storing this highly flammable material within walking distance of a major Canadian University – Simon Fraser. We are regular Canadians that recognize the dangers of shipping this toxic diluted tar through the Salish Sea and Southern Resident killer whale habitat, both of which would be permanently damaged in the event of a spill. The tar sinks and chemicals volatilize when exposed.

Try to be part of the solution to Climate Change rather than joining with the greedy and the apathetic

Perhaps you would like the opposition to be more easily identifiable—like, maybe wear …I don’t know…a yellow star sewn on their clothing? This idea is really not that far off from your position. If I was a child, I would call you a “big bully”. But I’m not a child; I am an adult; so I will only say you are a small-minded person trying to use bullying tactics. Shame on you.

It is time to treat climate breakdown as the emergency it is. A new pipeline is not the way to go. Stop the Trans Mountain Pipeline and give future generations a better chance for a livable future.

I want to make this perfectly clear.

I do not support the building of more pipelines.

I do not support using my tax dollars to build a pipeline.

I do not support your non-truths about foreign support for those protesting pipelines when, by far, the biggest amount of money and lobbying is done by the fossil fuel industry and related corporate interests.

I do not support your dictatorial views that the democratic right to protest and disagree with your agenda should be throttled.

I do not support your opinion that short term gain at the expense of the health of the planet trumps the long term pain of climate change run amok.

You are on the wrong side of history on this, and many other issues, and you will not win.

I oppose the Trans Mountain pipeline for all the reasons that you have already heard. This is not about Alberta or Canada, this is about the world.

Hi Jason I support the Canadian People, I support their jobs, their safety and their future prospects. I am a Canadian citizen and I spend my own money and time protecting my friends and family from your desire to protect profits. I firmly oppose this and all new pipelines.

I was 10 years old on July 20, 1969 when I saw the earth filmed from the moon by the crew of Appolo11. From that day on, I know that our planet is a privileged place in the middle of the sidereal void. Protecting her is an absolute duty.

That’s why I’m funding the fight against pipelines.

I am an Albertan that strongly opposes the Trans Mountain Pipeline and Tanker Project.

We have taken enough from this planet and the life it sustains which is not ours for the taking in the first place.

So many of us are waking up to that fact…why can’t you?

I meet many people that are truly wanting a clean, green and healthy solution that doesn’t take away from the planet and the life it sustains but allows us to give back for a change!


The whole oil and gas thing is old, repetitive, unhealthy, harmful and taxing on the environment. Put money towards projects that benefit “all of us” including the life we share this planet with!

I oppose the continued breakneck expansion of the tar sands.

I want Canada to be on the path to a clean energy economy of the future, not the past.


I am not an enemy of the state. I am not the enemy of Alberta. Your kangaroo court is an affront to democracy and is a danger to Canada.


I donate money to environmental causes. I support First Nations lawsuits challenging fossil fuel infrastructure through their territory without their consent. I help fund lawsuits to protect the Southern Resident Killer Whales.


You don’t need to throw away millions of dollars of Alberta taxpayer money to find out who opposes Trans Mountain. I do.


If you think the trustworthy Chinese will buy Alberta oil, I have some waterfront property in the high Arctic to sell you.

Dear Mr. Kenney, So you want to know who is protesting the expansion of pipelines, specifically the Trans Mountain? It is people like ME, a retired 67 year old grandmother of almost 6 who is scared to death of the future we are leaving to our grandchildren. I give money to environmental causes whenever I can and I speak out. I am a nobody; no environmental group has coerced or brainwashed me. I have READ the IPCC Report on climate and I have been following the growing climate crisis most of my life and I thought we would come to our senses long before this. People like you are the problem, sir. You are trying to deny that our ever increasing dependence on fossil fuel is not heating up the planet beyond sustainability. Shame on you, Jason Kenney! How do you sleep at night? Back to my first point, don’t waste your money searching for all of us " dangerous climate activists". My name is Pat Smith. I live in Barrie, Ontario and I am not going to take this ridiculous misinformation about environmentalists quietly. When did being concerned about our environment become a bad thing? Step away from looking at the planet simply through the eyes of the " economy" and you will realize we can’t breathe money.

Jason, Get a grip. Real people oppose this pipeline. There are so many things wrong with it, it’s hard to even start. Lets go with the city of 2.5 million it will threaten with any spills, destroyed salmon streams, SFU campus disaster, Skytrain tunnel collapse, schools affected, homes affected, bridges affected, and that earthquake we know is coming? This damn thing will just add to the disaster. This is only part of the issues, and just in the city. Really, GET a grip. Send it to the states, where they actually want it, or process it yourself, or better yet – leave it in the ground, so our kids have a world to live in. How about that?

Our air and land are being polluted to no purpose. Use the funds to promote renewable energy.

No access to unseeded territory. No more Tarsands killing Canada’s environment and First nations hunting grounds. Move on to clean energy. In Calgary it is windy and sunny at the same time. Keep the Bitumen in the ground. BC opposes , Tsleil-Waututh opposes, Musquem,and Squamish oppose. So it is a No Go.

Wake Up and show some love for our planet!

I oppose the pipeline. We need to switch to renewables and stop dumping carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. The pipeline is just a method to get more money for oil companies.

Mr. Kenney, there are many Canadians like me who respect Alberta and also our natural resources. I agree with Canada’s federal courts who have found there are reasons to delay or stop oil projects in Alberta. New jobs and appropriate training for them in the renewable resources industr could be a great fit for Albertans losing their jobs in the oil fields. Respect for indigenous opposition to these projects is also key to being a true Canadian.

I am a retired professor, a little old lady to you, but I’ll fight you and the pipeline – with my own money thank you very much. Send CSIS to watch – we’re not afraid of you.

Ask your children and grandchildren what they think. Ask all the seniors that you know. Ask all the people who put the health of the planet ahead of the health of your bank account. They would all tell you what you do not want to hear and that’s because you are a very bad person who only cares about himself.

Your money into an Enquiry would be better spent building alternative energy sources. 14% of all electricity generated in the European Union is from wind power. I am an old white woman born in Canada. As were my parents and grandparents. Interesting if you can identify me as foreign or radical. How silly. How can you move from ‘horse and buggy ‘ technology to a future that is healthier for our planet?

Stop flirting with the Oil Men!

While you’re making such an effort could you take some time to figure out how much foreign investment is funding last century’s energy technologies, lobbying government, placing ads and otherwise contributing to the fossil propaganda machine? If you think Alberta’s economy is struggling now while the world still uses that filth you peddle just wait until the decline starts. It only needs to be a small decline and the worst muck will be the first to go. If Alberta ever gets a true leader they will be the one that moved you into the 21st century.
