Jason Kenney's government has launched an inquiry into who funds groups that criticize Alberta’s oil industry.

Please think of your children’s future, no amount of wealth will protect them from poor choices involving the climate. Be independently wise and invest in renewable energy. Let your legacy be a positive contribution to our planet. This pipeline is trouble on so many levels, from faulty storage to tanker spills. Please do the right thing.

Pay no attention to the groups wanting to keep oil in the ground.

Please keep up your great work and dedication to getting the Alberta resources to tide water.

We need pipelines!

If we need zero emissions we need to stop petroleum-related funding now!

Ask your children and grandchildren what they think. Ask all the seniors that you know. Ask all the people who put the health of the planet ahead of the health of your bank account. They would all tell you what you do not want to hear and that’s because you are a very bad person who only cares about himself.

Time to wake up Jason, the world is on fire and intelligent people are changing their ways. Plus, ff we waste more money on another pipeline, who is going to buy the diluted bitumen in ten years?? industries, even the oil companies [changing their names from petroleum to energy], are changing. You will be left behind in the coal bin, with the horse cart, if you don’t start looking to the future your grandchildren will have.

I am very sad at the current discourse, especially your own, in Canada, around this issue. I have dear friends in Alberta; I am sorry that the Albertan government has not properly planned for this time when it had decades to do so. I am 56 years old, so I remember the have-not days of Alberta, before the oil boom. Anyone with an understanding of world oil economics, let alone environmental issues like Climate Change and Indigenous rights, knew that the day would come when the oil sands industry would become un-economical; all it takes is the Saudis changing their price, really. That day is here. Increasing trans-mountain will not solve your problems and you would have to be completely uninformed to not know it. I doubt that is the case. So that brings us to politics as your primary reason, so thats very sad. Then there is the problem of CC and the environment and Indigenous rights. The cost in all these ways is simply too high and a very many of us simply are not willing to let this mistake carry on further without voicing and funding complaint. Its still a democracy and thats what people in one do.

Expanding pipelines when our climate is worsening is irresponsible. My home and family is at risk with double the tanks at the tank farm with no emergency plan, and there is NO CONSENT from the people whos land we live on. I live on Burnaby Mountain and I do not support your pipeline.

Your money into an Enquiry would be better spent building alternative energy sources. 14% of all electricity generated in the European Union is from wind power. I am an old white woman born in Canada. As were my parents and grandparents. Interesting if you can identify me as foreign or radical. How silly. How can you move from ‘horse and buggy ‘ technology to a future that is healthier for our planet?

The Government of Canada declares a climate emergency the night before we approve a toxic pipeline project. This makes zero sense! BItumen can not be cleaned up, regardless of how much of a “world class spill response plan” we have. We are facing an imminent climate catastrophe, confirmed by many renowned scientists, yet you are kicking the oil & gas can around down the road. We need renewable energy now! We do not need this pipeline in order to have renewable energy. That is BS! Shame on you Jason Kenney!!!

Transition your economy and energy production to come from green, renewable resources, and stop supporting and subsidizing a dying oil industry. This pipeline puts a fragile ecosystem across BC in danger and will threaten already endangered species like the Southern Resident Killer Whale to the point of extinction because of increased oil tanker traffic. Let’s also not forget that many times, these pipelines are built by cutting corners, which later leads to leaks and spills that cost millions to clean up and are devastating to local communities and ecosystems. This pipeline is dangerous, expensive, and will not boost long-term job creation the way you and Justin Trudeau believe it will. I know you’re beholden to oil lobbyists as a Conservative, but it’s time to actually look at the negatives and realize they are far, far outweighing any positives that this pipeline would supposedly bring.

Mr. Kenney,

I live within 1 km of the front gates to the Burnaby Terminal for Transmountain. The terminus for the Kinder Morgan pipeline. Today the tank farm is manageable in an emergency. With the proposed expansion, it has been declared by experts that an emergency at the tank farm could be catastrophic for the thousands of people who live, work and play in the immediate area.

This is my most pressing concern regarding the pipeline. If you are interested, I have several more reasons to follow.

Stop flirting with the Oil Men!

While you’re making such an effort could you take some time to figure out how much foreign investment is funding last century’s energy technologies, lobbying government, placing ads and otherwise contributing to the fossil propaganda machine? If you think Alberta’s economy is struggling now while the world still uses that filth you peddle just wait until the decline starts. It only needs to be a small decline and the worst muck will be the first to go. If Alberta ever gets a true leader they will be the one that moved you into the 21st century.

A great many Canadians think that your policies concerning oil are backward and downright dangerous. Humans needs to change if we are survive. You need to work on that. Have I received foreign funding to develop my opinion? No. Do I think indigenous peoples must be directly involved in decisions that affect them? Yes. Stop blaming everyone but yourself and your desperate base for the misfortune of the oil industry. Listen to the science and act accordingly. Shut down the tar sands and plant trees. Gosh, that is such a radical idea. So simple. It might even work.

My family and I are ABSOLUTELY OPPOSED to the Transmountain pipeline and its proposed massive increased bitumen oil supertanker traffic through our coastal waters. We are also very concerned about the oil tank farm increase in size 3 fold in the midst of a highly populated residential neighbourhood. Shame on you, Mr. Kenney!

Your tar sands are right out of Lord of the Rings or a horror story. The problem is that nobody wants to clean up things properly or take the right precautions. They don’t care…big business doesn’t care about anything but making a buck. They don’t care about the future because they are here now! Money talks and that’s all you care about. Your idea of a future is alot different than mine. I want a green earth and you want Mordor. You’re already there now. What a mess! That’s what you are leaving for your grandchildren and everyone elses. A BIG STINKING MESS!

I think its time to get serious about climate change. We need to think globally on transitioning from fossil fuels to clean energy. Alberta should be a leader in this regard and not the last nonbeliever. Time to be in with energy transition, not “in the way”

I am one of many who oppose the pipeline. I live by the ocean it could ruin by a leak or worse catastrophe. Why export our natural resource- build a couple refineries & make our oil useable for western Canada. We also need desperately to get off fossil fuels & use other energy sources. Become a hero & try to do both.

Born in Vancouver, raised in the Gulf Islands and my working career was in Victoria. The wilderness/ ocean/coast/ wildlife life and water are too precious to risk with your dodgy pipelines. Many Albertans retire to the coast because of the natural beauty and healthy environment here in BC

Invest in alternative energy sources and years of future benefits for your province and ours.

The planet is burning! Methane gas is being released in the Arctic and will raise our temperatures 8 degrees!! Be a leader, not a panderer to the fossil fuel industry! Lead your province into a GREEN economy! There are already more jobs in that industry than in fossil fuels!
