I can’t believe that folly of taking over an aging, deteriorating pipeline with deferred maintenance and unresolved liabilities is in our public interest. FURTHER TO THAN, YOU/WE AREACTUALLYPAYINGFOR IT! NOTONLYTHAT, YOU/WE ARESERIOUSLYOVERPAYING, BASED ON THEFACTTHAT IT WASASSESSED AT $500,000 in 2007…and has been further deteriorating for 11 years!

You must stop the Kinder Morgan pipeline buy out! The American president called you weak and it seems no wonder when you cave to their exorbitant demands instead of protecting your own coast, waters and citizens! Canada stood with you when the Americans called you down and want to start a trade war, now it is time for you to stand with Canada!
The need is great to REVERSE the expanded pipeline decision! Don’t put this on us, on the land, water and the future well being of generations to come. It is your responsibility!

Fixing the existing pipe line that needs attention is one thing. Expanding & putting money & energy into a dirty non-renewable resources is not forward thinking to changing a broken system. Clean energy. Who killed the electric car? Greed & stupidity.

I as a Canadian and living on the west coast reject spending 20B of my tax dollars on this rediculous pipeline. Where is Justin Trudeau getting this money when it upsets me that our Federal Government doesn’t have MONEY for r Veterans….but for this. I remember before the election a few years back he promised he would make sure to take care of our West Coast all the way up north and back. Mr. Trudeau you lost my VOTE.

I totally agree with you Doreen, Artemis, Brehre, Ann, Neila, Suzanne, and many others who have commented here. I believe that he does not have much concern for animals. I too am aware of the dogs and cats tortured before being eaten, in China and other countries ( Vietnam, Thailand etc.). Also the poisonous treats made for our animals. I am not generalizing, but Trudeau is wrong here. We have a beautiful province, and we have to preserve it. No to KM ! Keep this in the news !

You know better than to do this : against the law, a waste of 4.5 million dollars, a disregard for climate change, lying to Canadian voters, a lack of concern for your children and mine, disregard for our beautiful B.C. coast and marine life. Please get out of this deal with China ! Why are you saving the interests of a Texan Oil Company ?

Shame on you Trudeau for even thinking about giving our money away to huge, excessively rich, corporations. We work hard for that money, it is not yours. We are supposed to be living in a democracy. Your job is to enact the will of the people with respect to the law. Constitutionally the law says you must have informed consent from First Nations. You don’t have that. I urge you to do the right thing and honour the people before profits for corporations.

I wrote a comment a day ago and reversed things. MP Romeo Saganash’s bill to support the Universal Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People passed through its 3rd reading in the House of Commons. I said it was the Senate. I am non native and live in the south west interior, on unceded Sinxt territory. I have written MPs, Trudeau’s office, Morneau’s office, and editors. I have left messages with others. Trudeau and his ilk are not respecting the voices of those who oppose their destructive and genocidal actions of supporting the oil industry over viable and sustainable alternatives for powering our world and industries. Their decisions follow a well trodden path of colonialism and ecological suicide.

James Hansen, pre eminent climate scientist, has warned us: “if the tar sands are developed, it’s game over for the climate.”
Everyone knows that there is no technology, no matter how advanced, now or in future, that can effectively clean up an oil spill when waves carry it away faster than anything can collect it – there is no response that is immediate and even if they got there within what is deemed to be an acceptable response time, that would be too late, damage would be done for decades before the ecosystem could fully recover. Trudeau’s $1.5B world-class oil spill response plan will do little to protect the coast against a spill; because even if they can recover some oil, of course it won’t be possible to extract most of it out of the water or clean it off the bottom of the ocean. Do they think we’re a bunch of doughheads to believe this crap?

After yesterday’s B.C. news, we learned about the tug boat sinking and the lack of response that led to so much fuel and oil being leaked into the water that it has still not been paid for by the company that was responsible and has devastated the coral in the area. We cannot handle a large oil spill on this coast!!!! It will kill this ecosystem!!! The whales, the coral, the salmon and other fish and anything that calls that water home are relying on us to save them. You sir, are so not on board with B.C.‘s coast or what we are protecting!! Why can you not think about the repercussions of just ONE spill in these waters??? All you can think about is Rachel Notley and what she wants…what about the rest of us? Why are you only listening to one side of this? Why are you only responding to one side and ignoring the other??? A REAL prime minister brings his country together at times like these and tries to come to a decision that EVERYONE agrees on!!! He does NOT divide it between the oil lovers and the ecologists and indigenous people. This is not all about money!!! It’s about what our country represents to the rest of the world. You were elected by telling us that you were on board with climate change and the ecology of our country. Then you try to destroy the waters of B.C. without any plan on how to clean it up WHEN, NOT IF it spills oil into the water.

Not sure how bill c-362 affects this, it at all. I hope it does. Thank you to Romeo Saganash for this. It has passed its 3rd reading in the Senate. Our government has forgotten this is a democracy that has made commitments to honour the Universal Declaration On the Rights of Indigenous People. Kinder Morgan and Trudeau with his unconstitutional bailout are not deserving of any respect or commitment to honour their deals.

You could have forgiven the interest on student loans and lifted thousands out of poverty, you could have ensured clean drinking water in all First Nations Reservations, you could have funded clean technology- but no, you are paying for a 60 year old pipeline, making me responsible for all of the risk and construction costs for a pipeline transporting a product that no one is interested in, and then will sell it when it’s done so a private entity can reap what little profit it may incur. You’re giving my money to private corporate entities and you expect to be re-elected in 2019? Think again. This is insufferable.

Okay Liberal government this one is on your heads! When that inevitable tanker spill/pipeline break comes and bitumen that cannot be cleaned up is killing everything around it . . . and you know in your heart of hearts you were part of the decision; and you know once again you have rescinded aboriginal connection to their lands and rights of self government . . . your debits to the people/land mass and all it contains are great and heavy. Mr. Trudeau Using Canadians hard earned Tax Dollars to bail out crooked Enron Execs who already have their pockets filled with innocent peoples money is just irresponsible!! $4.5 Billion for a worthless pipeline that if you wanted it that bad you could have waited a week or two you could have had for pennies on the dollar!! Imagine if you invest that money into Green Renewable energy or even BC’s decimated forest industry would be much wiser than throwing it at Alberta’s tarsands money pit that will never pay for itself!! Grab a brain Mr. Trudeau!!

So Mr. Trudeau, Kinder Morgan wants to get out of this loser project because they are clear it is no longer financially viable as there is no market for bitumen, but you want Canadian taxpayers to waste 2 billion dollars to bail out this US company so you can assuage Notley and prove to BC how tough you are? Then you want to push the useless pipeline through indigenous territory without their permission, and put more and more tankers in our coastal waters?! You sir have lied. We do not believe or support you. Do what you promised for a change!

Instead of showing real leadership and showing us how to work together as a country, you have divided us between the oil cronies and the environmentalists and people who support indigenous rights…YOUCALLTHATLEADING!!!!!!
