I never thought I would live to see a PM that was worse than Harper. You’ve just lowered the bar. A lying corporate stooge like you has no business leading our country. Take your pusilanimous posterior and the rest of your Liberal cronies, do the country a favour, and deposit in the Labrea Tar pits. Crud may as well be with its own.
I HATE trudeau!!! He’s a lying HYPOCRIT…hasn’t kept ANY of his false promises!!! Says he cares about Indigenous Rights and the Environment…BS!!! WE MUSTSTOP trudeau’s EVILPLAN to expand this Life-threatening, Nature-destroying pipeline…he’s WORSE than that CRAZYLUNATIC in the Whitehouse!!!!

Imagine the SHAME you will personally bear for the rest of your life, Mr. Trudeau, when the consequences of your actions, inactions, lies and deception take the form of the inevitable destruction, chaos and havoc to our water, coastal , forest inhabitants and neighborhoods. Stop this insanity NOW, while you still can. Imagine what Canada would be like if, instead, you were to invest OUR tax dollars in real sustainable energy solutions, instead of DEADLYDILBIT transport. We citizens know that this funding won’t come out of your pocket….SHAME on you.

By supporting the oil industry like this, the Trudeau government is stealing health, wellbeing and wealth from present and future generations. I call on the government to serve the needs of all the people of canada, not just the corporations; and to protect the land, air and waters that sustain us all.

I’ve noticed on all these news reports that anyone for the pipeline says only one thing It’s an economic benefit to BC and the rest of Canada. My question is How?You create temporary jobs for thousands that will last a fews yrs and of course there is some economic benefits to surrounding area’s of development but really that’s it.Will our gas prices go down or even be comparable to other provinces?probably not. Will we get that nice little royalty checks that all albertans get?Probably not.Notley always says BCers are holding the rest of Canada hostage,i disagree. We are the only province that seems to give a sh— about our environment and the damage that one tanker spill or pipeline leak will cause.Albertans have become so reliant on oil that they don’t give a dam about the future. Why don’t we run a new pipeline through Banff and see how much Albertans would love that.Basically this is all about big money pure and simple and it doesn’t matter how it affects anything else.

Durring the election Your party said you would not push any pipelines on the people who did not want them.what has happened to change your mind on that? .I took you for a man of integrity and hoped you would keep your election promises.you do not have my consent to use any part of our public money to help out or bail out a multi-billion dollar company that no one wants to ruin the waters off the coast of British Columbia and Washington state. Please stop this foolishness and get back to business with other matters that desperately need your attention..i.e. schools, healthcare, illegal immigrants.
Leave these good people alone to live in their province and on their territory the way they choose

Divide & Conquer … confuse the populace … bait & switch … use expediency … claim it’s a ‘done deal … push propaganda …
In BC, we’ve seen it all. We are not amused.
We have coastal waters to save, habitat to preserve, flora and fauna to protect, the health of all that breathe oxygen to consider.
Canada joined with the United Nations in the Precautionary Principle … are we turncoats?
Do the right thing … stall KinderMorgan until they go home empty … and fill our country with the “sunny ways” of solar.

There’s a better way than pipelines. Using bitumen balls addresses BCs concerns, allows more flexibility in transport, and keeps the money in Canadian hands while being very much safer environmentally. As greener energy sources come online, bitumen output can be tapered off realistically.Albertans created this technology, and we should wise up and put it on the table!
Refining it on site and sending the energy produced makes even more sense than transporting it physically at all, and certainly the two methods can be combined to get the best value for our resources safely .
Add to this the fact that Indigenous nations were not at the table, the LOOP rendered bitumen economically unfeasible, and the money goes to a big US corporation, it’s a disaster .With Enron con artists leading the charge, KMs threatening to pull out in order to fleece us, and possibly sue Canada http://www.cbc.ca/player/play/1040729667675

The other thing that I would like to express is that Prime Minister Trudeau’s job here is to unify, not divide our country. He has done nothing to unify us and has only succeeded in allowing us to divide over an issue that will profit other countries!! Get your hands dirty, Mr. Trudeau!! This country expects you to act like a Prime Minister in this dispute and do the right thing for ‘ALL’ Canadians, not just Alberta and Saskatchewan!!! Why aren’t you doing something to bring us together on this…like deciding to implement a proper environmental assessment and stand by all provinces to bring us together on this issue…find us some common ground!! If you stood for Canadian values instead of selling our country down south, you could unify us and make everyone happy but, I only see you trying to force B.C. into an agreement they want nothing to do with!!! Stand with ALL Canadians!!

I also must mention our marine population that has no say in this. We now have only 76 resident orcas on our coast. One bitumen spill would completely decimate their population. Not to mention all the other marine life that would be horribly affected by a spill. Why isn’t there an environmental assessment being done before this is shoved down our throats?? Where is the policy for when a spill happens and who’s going to pay for it (although since bitumen is so heavy, it would be near impossible to clean up)???

Thank you, Neila Morrison! I concur everything you said…ditto to all of it!!! Why on earth would we sell a raw product to an American company so that they can refine it and sell it back to us at a premium when creating a refining plant here would be the better and smarter option? That way, Canadians can benefit from the jobs it would create and the gas it would produce for our own country!!!! I think our Prime Minister and the Premieres of Alberta and Saskatchewan should start thinking about our country’s best interests instead of just lining their own pockets and those of the Americans!! How is that good for our Canadian economy?
I wanted to make people aware that shipments of bitumen by Kinder Morgan are initially destined for Texas where it will be refined and likely then shipped across the U.S. or back to Canada at a premium. China has new found oil reserves and likely won’t even need oil from the tarsands, refined or not. In any event – the oil should at minimum be refined in Alberta for use by Canada; rather than selling a raw product to be refined elsewhere at a cheap rate, and then sold back to us at a premium. Now how is this ‘good for Canada’? Seems to me that it’s only good for Kinder Morgan. And how is that good for the Pacific Rim, when each time it is loaded onto a tanker to navigate treacherous coastal waters it creates significant risk of an oil spill which would potentially destroy any number of the 100,000 jobs in BC that depend on clean Pacific waters, nevermind jobs in Washington & Oregon & California. Even the Governor of Washington has vowed to stand with Premier Horgan – they know the risk. This project is absolute lunacy!
The thought of our government bailing out an American company who to date has been reckless with BC lands and waters and threatens the livelihoods of thousands of British Columbians in order to continue a project that BC does not support, absolutely boils my blood. Spending $2Billion dollars of Canadian taxpayers money to ram through an ill-fated dinosaur project through First Nations lands when legitimate scientific safety or environmental assessments have not even been considered, nevermind completed, should be viewed as an unconstitutional and criminal act by our Federal government. This has nothing to do with the project being in the ‘best interests of Canada’, this is a political move and nothing more. I am ashamed of our Prime Minister.

I agree with the overall comments on here that solar and other sources are the way to go, and not the planet Earth destroying fossil fuels that will for sure run out and disappear from over use. I sincerely hope China wakes up to that fact rather than this tar sands negotiation. That will not solve anything between them and Trudeau.

Stop subsidising oil and start providing incentives for solar across the board, including residential installations!
Begin by removing the tariffs on imported solar panels. Every solar supplier gets all their stock imported!
There is no solar industry in Canada — “build it and they will come” for the jobs, eh.

Oil and gas are done – get used to it and move forward. When oil and gas run out there will be no jobs so isn’t it better to be proactive and retrain skilled workers for alternative energy production and use now??? Please listen to your voters – we do not want our beautiful Canadian environment wrecked, but we don’t want massive job loss either. We can have it all if our politicians think through and beyond short term solutions to the long term consequences.

Public funds, our money, must not be used to support oil and gas development of a private company who will make the profit!!
Not to mention that this pipeline is not truly needed – nor is it in the right direction for our future for sustainable energy sources.
No to Kinder Morgan and the pipeline expansion – a Clear No!

This proposed pipeline will increase the rate of climate change progression, eventually degrade the west coast and all the marine life it supports (and that is a “when” and not an “if”), completely ignore unceded Indigenous territorial rights. Supporting this American led initiative clearly demonstrate that this Liberal government is not acting in the best interests of tax-paying Canadian citizens. We are asking that our elected government contribute to the transition to safe and renewable energy, as opposed to promoting American private interests in exploiting a resource that should be left in the ground.
