Dear Prime Minister Trudeau
Do not invest my tax payer’s money in further promoting fossel fuel extraction and the Kinder Morgan
Pipe line to the West Coast in Canada. My vision of Canada would see such funding invested in
alternate and renewable sources as a clear global statement of our national effort toward limiting climate
change. We welcomed your election to office with its promises of change and we hope you will redeem
our confidence in you.

I fired Kinder Morgan and took a monetary loss because Principals and the Environment are more important than money, even to BC business. I fired Kinder Morgan and took a monetary loss because I am strongly opposed to the pipeline. I have a transportation company and operate one electric vehicle and 19 gas because my options are limited. I look forward to future where I am free to use renewable energy to operate my fleet and offer my client a green alternative to travel.
FACT:
The only super charging station for electric vehicles in BC is in Squamish, 45 minutes away from Vancouver.
Quebec was never threatened by Trudeau when they blocked the pipeline.
The automotive industry in Canada is mandated by the government to allow a limited number of electric vehicles into the market place each year.
The BC Passenger Transportation Department does not allow the car service industry to operate electric vehicles under a certain wheel base length which eliminates most electric vehicle options for our industry thus pushing us into the fossil fuel options.
The BC Government taxes the car service industry 15-20% provincial luxury car tax on electric vehicles therefore deters the industry from going electric as our options are too expensive
The tourism industry in BC generated 7.9 Billion dollars into our economy in 2016 (comparable to our primary industries, fishing, agriculture and mineral) that would be partially wiped out if there were to be an oil spill.
THINGSTHATMAKEYOUSAY Hmmmm???
What other Province would risk loosing an industry (tourism) and economic stability and jobs to support a pipeline?
Why has BC seen a rise in gas prices and had threats to our medical funding when no such sanctions were imposed on Quebec when they lead the way to "No Pipeline?
What other province would let BC destroy their land and waters and risk environmental devastation as they are asking British Columbians to do?
Would British Columbians pour oil in Lake Louise and destroy the land in which Prairie provinces raise their cattle and crops (an income that feeds them)? Then why should we?
When Vancouver has made their mandate “Greenest City in the World by 2020”, Why would Canada decide this is the one spot to send tanker traffic and bitumen?
Why would the Canadian people want to destroy one of the most beautiful cities in the world, let alone Canada, for money?
When the Federal Government can not clean up the spill, who will pay the price? And who will come here to visit?
My family is primarily from Alberta and Saskatchewan, why do they choose to winter in BC and travel to the Coast in the summer? All your answers are right, because it is warm and beautiful and while they are still in deep snow, we are biking, jogging, blading, hiking and enjoying the beauty of our Province. If you support the pipeline, relatives, Stay Home, I do not have a bed for you.
Would you eat seafood from waters in which there was an oil spill?
Who regulates the stability of the tankers that will be shipping bitumen through our waters? You can bet not the federal government of Canada but all the countries in which these tankers fly their flags and regulations are questionable.
Will Trudeau and his family ever be welcome in British Columbia again, should there be an oil spill? Perhaps once he destroys our Coast he won’t even want to come back.
Will we maintain our population and economy after an oil spill?

Just another lying two-faced politician. Nothing new.
This pipeline is not in the national interest. The major profits will go to foreigners and our land will be pilfered and soiled. Who will clean up the leaks (and there WILL be leaks and spills) and how will they do that exactly? It will poison our wildlife and destroy what is the most beautiful province in Canada. A lot of the land is NOT ours to destroy – it belongs to our Indigenous citizens and they say “No”. I voted for Trudeau and now I deeply regret believing his lies. He’s exactly like his predecessor, cut from the same cloth of greed and inhumanity.

This is about as low as the Prime Minister can get. Canadian taxpayers’ money being given gratis to an American oil corporation (Kinder Morgan) because their project is so unsound they cannot attract investment. All the talk of reconciliation and respecting the inherent rights of our First Nation peoples is obviously without any substance or meaning. Shameful, Mr. Trudeau; this is tantamount to treachery and frankly treason to Canada.

So Mr. Trudeau, Kinder Morgan wants to get out of this loser project because they are clear it is no longer financially viable as there is no market for bitumen, but you want Canadian taxpayers to waste 2 billion dollars to bail out this US company so you can assuage Notley and prove to BC how tough you are? Then you want to push the useless pipeline through indigenous territory without their permission, and put more and more tankers in our coastal waters?! You sir have lied. We do not believe or support you. Do what you promised for a change!

It seems our elected leader, elected on a promise to protect our environment no less, has taken a leaf out of that other “elected” leader’s book by lying pre-election, breaking promises and trampling on the rights of people. Kinder Morgan is an American company with a dismal record a spills, they should not be allowed to bully their way into B.C. to perpetuate the use of fossil fuel. The increase of oil tanker traffic along the coast makes some kind of accident inevitable, once spilt the bitumen is impossible to clean up no matter how much money is promised or how many reassurances K. M. makes.
Finally Mr Trudeau, you claim financial disaster if this pipe line to the BC coast is scrapped. The pipe line to the east coast cancelation saw no such result. So much for your professed love of this province. Well, we really do love it and will not stand by while you prop up big, dirty American oil rolling in.

Monsieur Trudeau, you were elected on a promise to not expand the fossil fuel industry, and now you want to use my tax dollars to bail it out? I’m not sure if the US oil billionaires are giving you kickbacks, or if they have threatened you, but your support for a dying industry against the wishes of the people of Canada is disturbingly incongruent with your stated values. I realize oil royalties have in the past been in the billions and used for social and public services, but guess what’s even more valuable to the people of Canada as we move forward? Clean air, drinkable water, and fertile soil is more valuable than anything. No means no, Monsiuer Trudeau. Please don’t screw this up, I really don’t want Scheer as a PM.

Sometimes somebody has to stand up for the rights of whales, orcas, and various sea life. You know they are disintegrating all over the world due to climate warming. This is a fact. We need to refine our own products so our gas is not so atrocious in price. We are bent over a barrel and you are a part of that. Do the right thing for everyone. Pipelines are not progress and in this case it is not in the National Interest to destroy our tourist industry and the reasons for it.

You are also tramping on Indigenous rights, so much for reconciliation.

Shame on you Trudeau for even thinking about giving our money away to huge, excessively rich, corporations. We work hard for that money, it is not yours. We are supposed to be living in a democracy. Your job is to enact the will of the people with respect to the law. Constitutionally the law says you must have informed consent from First Nations. You don’t have that. I urge you to do the right thing and honour the people before profits for corporations.

Prime Minister, Trudeau. This is unconscionable! I was and would like to be an avid Trudeau supporter again. I am definitely not now. This is the final straw. Stop pushing this Kinder Morgan pipeline. And support our indigenous brothers and sisters that you say you are trying to reconcile with. Especially don’t use our Canadian money against our family to bail out a foreign company. If that doesn’t matter to you, perhaps the fact that this would be political suicide for your ailing party, might! If you have money to spare, please invest it in green energy. Thank you, Bev Ward

We shouldn’t be bailing out an American company for running roughshod over Indigenous lands! Why are we not building our own refineries to create plenty of long term jobs in our own country and remove a lot of the danger around shipping unrefined bitumen?? Why isn’t our government thinking about Canadians and what they want???

If anything, invest that money into building refineries in Alberta – more jobs stay in Alberta and no dirty tar sands in pipelines or railcars to BC.

Federal taxes already subsidize this with over 3 billion, its ridiculous! So dirty, not worth the cost to our air, land, water and basic rights. Invest this in renewable job retraining.
When do we start spending BIGBUCKS to develop renewable, safe energy sources? Instead the old tired losing ways dominate. Very sad. This must change ASAP.

Mr. Prime Minister:
It appears you are planning to use the tax money of Canadians to assist Kinder Morgan in construction of the Trans Mountain pipeline, disregarding the rights of the indigenous people who will be among the most affected, and the voices of thousands of other Canadians. I understand that your desire is to make the necessary shift from fossil fuels to clean energy in a graded way, presumably to lessen the impact on Canadians of the cost of the shift. But I also believe the time has come to take a strong, principled stand.
It is time for your government to back away from Kinder Morgan and the pipeline and announce that the funding not spent there will be directed immediately to communities that are putting in place alternate-energy based programs. Mr. Trudeau, with respect, I call on you to say NO to this pipeline, take the principled stand for which I believe you were elected, and make Canada a leader in change. Thank you.
