**Kukstsemc Warriors announced they had removed one of the heavy plastic snow fences preventing spawning in rivers, after Kinder Morgan illegally put down plastic snow fences without permits in salmon-bearing streams along its pipeline construction route this summer.
Swift Creek, one of the sites of the illegal fences being used as wild salmon deterrent, is a major Chinook salmon spawning area — the second longest run in North America. Kinder Morgan’s methods to interrupt that spawn are untested and experimental. Southern Resident Orca Whales depend on Chinook salmon and levels are already at historic lows.
The National Energy Board ordered a stop work order, only after a local community member forced them to notice the company's own blog post that announced what they were doing.
No one is regulating Kinder Morgan on the ground.
Why is Texas-based Kinder Morgan allowed to regulate itself when they have shown us so clearly they consider themselves above our laws?
If no one else will step up, the people will deal with Kinder Morgan's illegal salmon destruction.
