How is it in this time of drastic climate change can it ever be considered to be in the interests of Canadians to expand the dirtiest method of oil extraction? No amount of climate denialism or flat earth type of thinking will change the facts. We have the means for cleaner energy production, the only things standing in the way are greed, apathy and unwillingness to change. This WILL be all of our undoing.
The idea of subsidizing the pipeline is ludicrous. The financial investment is unsound on every level. The price of crude and diminishing returns, the need for Kinder Morgan to borrow from Canadian Banks; and their lack of US institutional support. The vast risk any spill would have on the residents of Vancouver and the BC coastline would destroy the livelihoods of swaths of those who depend on tourism, fisheries and the vibrant ecosystem that is recovering here.
Burying ones head in the sand will not change the facts. We need clean ecosystems, and new energy production technologies.
I worry that the summers heat and fires will only sharpen the point. The world is rapidly changing and we need to adapt now, not in a decade, not in a few years, but right damn well NOW!
With the high rate of homelessness in Canada, and the prime minister having an open door to questionable immigration of undesirable from the US Trump wants to deport. Canada should not be handing funds out to mafia minded business.
Especially the one who has spill’s that has not cleaned up for years. Kinder Morgan is a not going to give jobs to Canadians because it has its workers all ready so its all a scam,it holding the pipeline as a form off hostage to get monies.
